Lord of the Flies Jack Essay Example For Students

Lord of the Flies Jack Essay At the start of the novel, there has been an atomic explosion, and the children have been evacuated in an aircraft with a detachable passenger tube. The aircraft has been attacked and released the tube while flying over tropical seas. The tube has crash landed in the jungle of a tropical island, and the plane has flown off in flames. This is the point when the novel starts. There are four main characters in the book ? Ralph, Piggy, Jack and Simon. Simon is part of the choir, which is led by Jack, but Ralph and Piggy are not members of the choir, and are in no way related. There are no adults ? There aren? any grown ups P. 43 Ralph has found a conch P. 21, and has used it to call all the boys on the island together. This is where Jack is introduced into Lord of the Flies Something dark was fumbling along P. 26. This refers to the choir walking along the beach in the distance. This use of language shows us that the choir is dark, evil, and sinister, and immediately Golding tells us that this group will not be a good force on the island. The choir are a militaristic group ? marching approximately? with a hambone frill P. 26. This shows us that their leader is in total control of the group. This leader is Jack ? The boy who controlled them? his cap badge was golden P. 26 This shows the authority and status that Jack has over the choir. When the choir reach the platform, Jack shows off ? swaying in the fierce light? his cloak flying P. 27. This is an attempt to impress the group, create a good impression, enough so he commands their respect as well as the choirs? , enough so that he can eventually control them as well as the choir. Jack does not introduce himself to everyone; he first words to the group are Where? s the man with the trumpet? P. 27. He just gives out demands, and expects the group to answer him. This is what he is used to. Jack is a direct contrast with Ralph ? peered down at Ralph? the conch did not seem to satisfy him P. 27 This shows us that he believes no-one is as good a leader as him, and that the conch, which called the group together, is below him. This is simple arrogance P. 29 on the part of Jack. He uses his cloak as a prop ? Inside the floating cloak he was tall, thin, and bony P. 27. He uses the cloak a sign of power to make him into something he? s not, he uses it to gain authority. His hair was red beneath the black cap P. 27. The colour of his hair shows signs of a fiery temper, and the colour of his cap reinforces his sinister side. Jacks main aim of the assemblies in the novel are to first become chief, and then control the group. He says on page twenty-nine with simple arrogance, I ought to be chief. Jack believes that no-one else has the right to control him, and he should be in control of everyone. During the assemblies, he rejects Piggy ? Shut up, Fatty P. 28. He has no respect for Piggy due to his appearance, even though Piggy could be a very useful asset to the group. He takes control of the assembly ? We? ve got to? P. 29. Jack does this because he wants to decide and be in control of what the group does. When the boys on the island say they want to vote on a chief, Jack started to protest P. 30. This is because Jack knows that he is not in control of the boys on the island who are not in the choir, which is the majority, and therefore they will not vote for him. He also believes that he should be proclaimed the leader of the group without voting, because in his opinion, no-one has the right to be in control of him. This is because he is a natural leader, and has never been in a position without control. This is born out when Ralph is voted chief ? and the freckles? a blush of mortification P. 30. Jack is very embarrassed when he is, for the first time in his life, not in total control. Jack? s personality makes him use violence to command respect ? Jack snatched from behind him a sizeable sheath-knife and clouted it into a trunk P. 32, Jack slammed his knife into a trunk and looked round challengingly P. 43. The Story of the Door EssayThis shows the determined and fearless image Jack has created for himself. After the fear of the beast has started to dismantle the civilized force inside the group, Jack looks for someone to blame ? the littluns ? You littluns started all this? P. 103. He again repeats that there is no beast, but maybe at this stage of the novel, he is a little less sure than on page fourty-eight. Jack uses the fear in the group to make himself look good. After he repeats I? ve been all over this island? there is no beast in the forest P. 104, the whole assembly applauded him P. 104. Jack had used the beast to his advantage, to gain status. He still remains defiant, even after it has been claimed that the beast comes from the sea, that if there is a beast, we? ll hunt it down P. 114. As I have already pointed out, Jack is obsessed with hunting, and his preoccupation with it has increased ever since he was introduced into the novel. Everything he sees on the island he links with hunting. He sees the fire as a way to cook meat P. 92, hunted by himself. When he hears about the beast, he says he will hunt it and kill P. 48. The major changes in his identity occur, however, in chapters three and four. He has become animalistic, like a dog ? his nose only a few inches from the humid earth? dog-like bolting he became a furtive thing, ape-like. P. 61-2. His physical characteristics have changed ? His hair, longer? peeling sunburn? he was naked P. 61. He has changed his image from a choirboy to a furtive hunter. He has become primitive P. 62. His eyes give away his inner-self, a mad animal ? eyes that in this frustration seemed bolting and nearly mad. P. 62. He is on the edge ? The madness came into his eyes? rage? compulsion P. 65. He has become a physical hunter swung? urled? strength? hard? castanet? seductive? maddening? rushed? snatched P. 63. Jack is totally taken with hunting, for when he tries to describe hunting o page sixty-seven, he is unable to describe the excitement he feels for it ? That? s how you can feel, He flushed suddenly P. 67. Jack has become so obsessed with hunting, that he has forgotten about being rescued ? Jack had to think for a moment before he could remember what rescue was. P. 67. As he becomes more and more primitive, his grasp on civilization weakens, and eventually dies. By smearing his face ? He smeared on the clay P. 79, he covers up the old Jack, and replaces him with an awesome stranger P. 80. The mask covers up Jacks face, and gives something for Jack to hide behind ? the mask? behind which Jack hid P. 80. This shows that Jack wants to give himself this awesome new identity in order to gain more control and power, and to start the formation of a tribe, which can hunt. When Jack eventually kills a pig on page eighty-six, he is terribly excited ? There were lashings of blood. P. 86. He is happy to recite the horrific details, he is proud of the kill. This is a syntax, and we can cross reference it to page fourty-one, where Jack lets a pig escape because of the thought of cutting into living flesh? the unbearable blood. P. 41. When Jack is introduced into the novel, we recognize him as an organised natural leader with evil potential. Over the first five chapters of the book, this is born out in his transformation from a choirboy to a fearless, furtive hunter. His priority has changed from being rescued to hunting and killing pigs. He has become less and less civilized, until his appearance becomes one of a tribal nature.

Governments- The records of the government related issues are also tracked by data mining. A tutorial tool is used in the University of Sydney that is web based. The name of the tool is known as the Logic-ITA (Miled, Reffay Laroussi, 2013). This web based tool is considered as the second tutor of the University as it plays a vital role of the teachers in the University. It has been over a decade that the University is using the system to help the students in completing their assignments and helps the teachers to maintain a record of over 2000 students in the university. The main work of the system Logic-ITA is to help the students with their logical formal proofs and helps the teachers to keep a watch on the progression of class they are in charge of. The main function of the system is to find out a conclusion that is related to their proofs. To get their proofs done, the students have to make formulas one after another with the previously designed logic formulas and also the predefined rules that were defined in the tool itself till the derivation is not complete. The teachers can view the student profile weather their proofs are correct or not and make a database accordingly. The procedures that are performed by the students are checked and if the steps are incorrect, then error message is prompted to the students. The part of the module used by the teachers contains a database of all the students in the University. Two consecutive tables are maintained by teachers. One table is for the mistake part made by the student and the other table is for t he correctly done steps (Hofmann Klinkenberg, 2014). In this mistake table the fields that are present are student login id, question id, the mistake made by the student and the corrected rule that is needed. In the correct table, the total number of lines to perform the proof, the starting date and the finish date are mentioned in the table. The tool helps to find out the student risks who have not received the training properly on how to do the work. Cluster visualization helps the find out the student who has failed in their tasks. Article 1 (Big data security problems threaten consumers privacy) The data demands more efficient execution in the business. These data are in various different forms. To organize these data or information, data mining is done in an organization. Analytical techniques that are used in business are mathematical techniques and algorithms. Data mining helps to organize the information. Maintaining the cost of data mining is not an affordable method, but to maintain such huge amount of data, data mining is to be done by company (Ryoo, J., 2017). The best option to cut short the cost of maintain the data mining is the outsource solution of data mining. Outsource services offers all types of data mining such as data mining of stock market, data mining regarding statistics all at affordable prices. Security Issues in Data Mining related issues are To mine different types of knowledge in a database is difficult. At different steps of abstraction a collective knowledge of mining is done. Data mining ad-hoc and data mining language related to query. Visualization and expression of data mining. Pattern evaluation is also difficult. Data Mining Privacy Issues play an important role business processes. Information mining has pulled in huge intrigue particularly in the previous decade with its huge space of uses. From the security point of view, information mining has been appeared to be valuable in going up against different sorts of assaults to PC frameworks. Be that as it may, a similar innovation can be utilized to make potential security dangers (Witten et al., 2016). Notwithstanding that, information gathering and examination endeavors by government organizations and organizations raised feelings of trepidation about protection, which persuaded the security safeguarding information mining research. One part of security safeguarding information mining is that, we ought to have the capacity to apply information mining calculations without watching the classified information esteems. This testing undertaking is as yet being examined (Provost Fawcett, 2013). Another perspective is that, utilizing information mi ning innovation a foe could get to secret data that couldn't be come to through questioning instruments risking the security of people. Ethical Implication of Data Mining With the ascent of information mining applications to different segments, there is an equal ascent in worries about the morals of digging client information for the thought process of benefit (Mostafavi Barnes, 2017). The way toward mining information by organizations is not going to decrease later on; rather it will increment with more associations getting to PC control. A standout amongst the frequently referred to issue with mining individual information is the point at which the data mined from a person's utilization conduct is utilized to advertise more items and administrations to that person (Roiger, 2017). Here organizations seem to concentrate on the reasoning that if more information is mined then offers of items will consequently increment. While this might be consistent with some degree it would seriously strife with clients. Article 2 (Big Data, Human Rights and the Ethics of Scientific Research) Some of the underlying testing brings about security saving information mining have been distributed. Be that as it may, there are as yet many issues that need advance examination with regards to information mining from both protection and security viewpoints (Tasioulas J., 2017). This workshop plans to give a meeting spot to academicians to distinguish issues identified with all parts of protection and security issues in information mining together with conceivable arrangements. Specialists and professionals working in information mining, databases, information security, and insights are welcome to present their experience, as well as research comes about. Another zone of concern is the moral utilization of information mining applications in the social insurance industry. Understanding data is required by law to be assembled just with finish assent by the patient (Wu et al., 2014). What's more, such data can be gotten to or utilized by look into organizations simply after many levels of security checks. Regardless of the controls on paper and the organizations actualizing, a few coordinators perform dishonest mining of information with no assent or endorsement keeping in mind the end goal to find another item that may bring high income. Conclusion While information mining speaks to a noteworthy progress in the sort of diagnostic apparatus right now accessible, there are constraints to its ability. One constraint is that despite the fact that information mining can help uncover examples and connections, it does not tell the client the esteem or essentialness of these examples. These sorts of judgments must be made by the client. A second restriction is that while information mining can recognize associations amongst practices and additionally factors, it doesn't essentially distinguish a causal relationship. Fruitful information mining still requires talented specialized and expository experts who can structure the examination and decipher the yield. Information mining is ending up progressively regular in both the private what are more, open segments. Ventures, for example, managing an account, protection, drug, and retailing regularly utilize information mining to diminish costs, improve research, and increment deals. In gene ral society part, information mining applications at first were utilized as a way to recognize misrepresentation and waste, however have developed to likewise be utilized for purposes for example, measuring and enhancing program execution. And one of the most substantial indications of this is the increasing number of Vegan Essays and vegetarians in our nation. A vegan consumes no foods of any kind produced by animals. An ovo-vegetarian eats eggs, but no dairy foods or animal flesh. A lacto-vegetarian eats dairy foods, but no eggs or animal flesh. A lacto-ovo-vegetarian eats dairy foods and eggs, but no animal flesh. These people are most commonly referred to as just vegetarians. A semi-vegetarian eats dairy food and egg and occasionally includes fish or chicken but no other animal flesh.(Seameons,p2) Aside from dietary habits, a vegan also has several more rules to follow. A vegan cannot use any product made from the body parts of an animal such as leather, ivory, fur, and even pearls. They also cannot use products which have been tested on animals. Vegans are sometimes referred to as an animals greatest ally. Veganism originally started in India in the first century A. D.. Hindus did not become vegan because of deep religious reasons or for personal health reasons, but because of environmental pressures. It became both uneconomical and unsanitary to raise animals in so crowded an environment. (Seamen p. 5). Through the centuries veganism never really caught on due to lack of modern medicine and improper understanding of the functions of the human body. Around the beginning of the twentieth century, it is thought that the discovery of vitamins and minerals gave birth to the idea of eating for optimum health and fitness, and thus, the rediscovery of veganism. Up through the 1900s, more and more people started to say stop to the unfair torture of animals. Since the dawn of man, humans have used animals to their advantage. Animal flesh has been a good source of vitamins and protein. The skin was used for warmth and shelter. Before several of the modern advances made by mankind, animals were needed to sustain human survival and prosperity. In todays society, many of the products on our store shelves are tested on animals for safety reasons. Even with all the great uses there are for dead animals, modern nutrition and science has made so many new advancements in research that it has become completely unnecessary to kill any animal for any reason. Humans can survive solely on vegetation and supplementation. Animal testing is unnecessary due to new DNA and computer graphic research. In this paper three major issues dealing with veganism will be discussed. Whether or not the vegan life style is healthier then the average way of life? Is animal testing necessary or should it be banned? And should animals be used in the entertainment industry? There is no reason to injure or kill animals for any reason. Americans as a society should be vegan. One major issue is whether or not the vegan lifestyle is healthier than the average way of life. The average way of life consists of the four major food groups: meat, dairy, grains, and fruits/vegetables. In the vegan lifestyle, meat and dairy foods are cut out of the diet. From a nutritional standpoint, animal food does have its advantages. .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 , .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .postImageUrl , .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 , .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3:hover , .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3:visited , .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3:active { border:0!important; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3:active , .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3 .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc817855359cde7bf77614a47ec0100b3:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Legalize Marijuana Essay For one thing it is nutrient-dense; it is a concentrated source of calories, protein, iron, zinc, copper, and in the case of dairy products, calcium. (Seameons p.4) Veganism is actually much healthier than consuming meat and dairy products. Most people who become vegans use improper supplementation and will eventually make themselves sick. It is not denying the body meat that vegetarians and vegans have problems with, but instead a lack of calories. The human body needs a certain balance of vitamins and minerals to sustain proper health. Usually, when a person decides to become a vegan, they make the transfer automatically. . Vegan Essay Example For Students Vegan Essay The greatest of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.(Mahatma Gandhi Quotes) Gandhi said this in his book, The Moral Basis of Vegetarianism, this belief is still valid in todays modern society. At the present time in the United States, the concern for the health and well being of animals is drastically increasing. And one of the most substantial indications of this is the increasing number of Vegan Essays and vegetarians in our nation. Today there are over half a million vegans and countless millions of vegetarians in the United States alone. We will write a custom essay on Vegan specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now There are several different kinds of vegetarians following this practice. The Best Summer Jobs for College Students to Try this Year Many students face financial difficulties through their college semesters. Though you might not have enough time to dedicate to a job while having classes every day, summer break allows you to work full time and make much more money. But what are the best summer jobs for college students? We have prepared the list of the best seasonal jobs that not only provide good payment but also will let you enjoy your summer. What to Expect? Temporary jobs are widespread among students. Such jobs allow getting a great experience and improving skills while also making money. If you are looking for a temporary job, you should be prepared for some pitfalls that might occur: Most of the temporary jobs pay less compared to long-term employment. The benefits such as paid sick days will depend on the company. The employment time might last less or more than your summer break. So, when looking for a job, make sure to specify all the details on a job interview, including your salary, working schedule, the period they hire you for, etc. Eventually, most of the students get their summer jobs without complications as employers are glad to offer seasonal jobs in summer, especially if their business depends on the season too. For example, swimming pools, amusement parks, and some event agencies have more clients in summer, so they offer a lot of seasonal work vacancies starting from spring. Lets have a look at the most common vacancies and types of summer jobs for college and high school students. 1. Swimming Pool Lifeguard When talking about summer jobs for college students, its impossible not to mention swimming pool lifeguards. This is a great chance to apply in practice the theoretical knowledge that you have received in your learning institution. But sometimes you can find a place that combines both a great opportunity to get priceless experience and also get paid for your job. Paid internship spots are rare and get quickly occupied by students, but you definitely should try searching for one in your location. Summer internships can be offered in different spheres including medicine, real estate, manufacturing, media, etc. How to get a job: find a suitable offer using platforms like Internships, Indeed, WayUp, etc. 5. Movie Theater Cashier This is one more example of a common summer job for students. Movie theaters usually have a few job offers in summer so you can try to apply for a cashier vacancy. This job is not among the high paying ones, but you will have an opportunity to watch movie premiers before your classmates Ã' an do this. Moreover, movie theaters offer flexible working schedules and great social packages. You can also apply for cashier in your nearest store or mall. Food Delivery Driver Food delivery is one of the most increasingly developing spheres, especially in big cities. It’s convenient and time-efficient, that’s why many restaurants establish delivery services. A driver license, in this case, is a great bonus that helps you to increase your chances of getting a better place with a higher salary. Everything will depend on the place you work for and the effort you put in your work. The more deliveries you make per day – the more profit. If you need some help with finance tracking or with scheduling your day, check out the best planner apps for your phone. How to get a job: check the nearest pizza places, they are probably hiring students who can drive a car or a motorbike. 7. Receptionist People who greet visitors at the entrance of the beauty salon, gym or hotel are called receptionists. They usually take calls, take care of clients and keep the records of the visitors. If you can genuinely smile all day long and keep patience, this job is for you. How to get a job: look for job advertisements on specialized platforms or check the nearest gym, they might be hiring. Wrapping Up If you are looking for a summer job, you should definitely check the nearest locations first – coffee shops, malls, post offices, etc. They might offer some great options for different working schedules and salaries. The benefit is clear – you wont have to spend too much time or money getting to work. By the way, you might like the place that you already know better than the others. Also, check advertisements on social media and your college bulletin boards – employers who are willing to hire students for summer often reach communities, groups, and clubs to find employees. Be sure to find the place for summer beforehand – the majority of good-paying college student jobs are taken before you even notice that.
